Mkhana Collective
About us

Built so that support never runs out.

Mkhana Collective is a Kenyan social enterprise building practical, sustainable and locally produced menstrual health solutions. One Girl. One Kit. One Billion Pads.

how it started

A pad drive ends. A period doesn't.

Across Kenya, millions of girls and women still lack consistent access to safe menstrual products. The cost isn't just discomfort, it's missed school days, lost confidence, and health risks that compound month after month.

Most support arrives as one-time donations that run out within weeks. So we built something different: the Mkhana Kit, biodegradable period pads plus the Bloom Period Journal, giving a girl or woman structured menstrual health support for six months (Half-Year Kit: KES 1,500) or a full year (Full-Year Kit: KES 3,000).

Every component is proudly made in Kenya, and every kit distributed moves us closer to 1 billion pads by 2030. Our first distribution reached 100 girls and women: 12,000 pads down, 999,988,000 to go.

Our vision

A Kenya where no girl misses school because of her period.

Our goal: 1 billion pads distributed by 2030, through partnerships with individuals, businesses, schools, foundations, NGOs, and government. The first 100 girls are the beginning.

12,000 pads down. 999,988,000 pads to go.

who we work with

Change is a team sport.

We collaborate with corporates, NGOs, foundations, schools, and community organisations. Partners sponsor kits, co-run community programmes, fund initiatives, and power distribution, every partnership puts real kits in real hands.
